people like the cold war

people like things as they are

the subtleties of festering petty hatreds

people are happy with that

all good believers need their main sin

they don't want to be free

but they demand their art for free


eventually when conditions are bad enough 

things will flare

maybe they'll be a hotter war


the aboriginals know all about that


& so i'll butt out


i've said enough


people will do what they do


shit usually rises to the top

& most people are not too bright


they hear what suits them


so i return to music & poetry


"a sadder & a wiser man"
