Exiled in the City
the phantom snitch
drank perspiration
bubble gum from her mouth
was sticky & sweet
& crunchy from the dirt
dirt music
english romanticism
heard the spirit of the land too
maybe informed
by dutch explorers
retouching base
from the heavenly first faces
not to know poverty
since the western mid east fall
& their scarecrows
their debasement of animus
& their sky god mammon
why one god sun
when one has two parents
sun & moon?
$
& yet the stars & the wind
entering her ovulating womb
we are in the trees
all punctuation cedes
english
too many qualifiers
what is quantity
what is type
when
an infants face
smiles at the drunk
when the parents are tin men
blocking out the living
as if we're all concrete & steel & glass
reflective surfaces
bouncing superbouncingballs with brain helmet
the infant is invisible to herself
indivisible all
her mother befuddled
when the babe
gurgled open arms to me
slumped over my table cigarette in hand
coming down
from another 72 hour
minipsychosis
of superstrain weed
i fell into
for no reason
but i am weak
& in harm
harm myself
seeking not to harm others at all
me born in shame
kicked in the head in the womb
bent at birth
stars in the eyes
all smiles & tears
aching for the bush & my heart
exiled in a cell in the city
