letter to afrika xx

i would imagine what people in the majority world might not realise about us westerners is how lonely we are.

community has been ravaged by Capitalism.

most people are just looking for friendship these days.

Naarm/Melbourne could be great if the property developers pissed off to Mars.

what i've learned is how many of the underclass are really fuckin cool intelligent progressive people.

they're tight with first nations people.

the aspirational class are the bigots.

they only worship money.

& wouldn't share a biscuit with a poor person.

the local people are safe.

our jails are growing by the day.

& their regulations are growing crueler with every hastily written law.

& all the kids are diagnosed with adhd for breathing xx

kids have energy.

& a lot if they're abused.

let em be kids!

inverst in the younger generation.

kids learn differently & at different paces.

teaching em something that could be interesting & relevent to them.

don't treat em like they're stupid.

they need to feel welcome & safe & trusted.

but too many people in education forget they were kids once.

the older i get the younger i feel mentally.

& i have to thank my students for that.

they inspired me so much & taught me to look at the world with fresh eyes xx

they made me braver & helped me understand love.

just remind em how grateful you are for sharing your days with ya.

adults i can take or leave.

but kids are fuckin awesome.

you can level with em.

they know.

inappropriate means nothing.

it's abitrary.

teach em about to hold on to wonder of existence

no matter how cruel the world can be xx

& that we're all in it together.

& give the teachers some fuckin job security

so they're not forced to leave & abandon their kids just when trust has been built xx

mal.

Win ugly

Win ugly I win ugly for some bloody reason I win ugly Life’s like footy Playin into the wind Some days you act like you wish it was over Some days you get the word from the coach & you take it in your stride Though you know ur only D grade Who thought you could play ruck rover & play a ruddy blinder Who thought you had it in ya? Not even ur mother Where did that come from? For you to walk like a king who knew you could sing? About pawning ur weddin ring When ur alone You ain’t nothin but alone Just don’t scam yourself Though u can’t get any help Yes I win ugly I like it in the wet Like a 10 year old boy Drawing with a stick in the dirt Go in hard & you don’t get hurt But a wise man once scribbled The hard is overcome by the soft Like stone in water Like watching a child’s first steps One day in the sun Feelin so privileged to have been there How’d you get so lucky?
