Animals & Sex

Animals & Sex

The Kastom people of Vanuatu

Most famously known for worshipping Prince Philip as a deity

Are trivialized as a curiosity

I saw a documentary about them

When they were invited to travel to Britain

What most struck them, as swineherds, was the size of the UK pigs

They were very impressed

Until they found out that it’s artificial insemination that gives the size and weight to modern agricultural animals

This deeply upset them

& they became insistent that the practice must stop

That the pig, like all animals, must be allowed sexual gratification as a birthright for living beings

I wholeheartedly agree

& it amazes me that we don’t talk about it

(I’m not advocating for the end of eating meat

Eating involves taking life, whether animal or vegetable

So what you eat is your business)

But modern agricultural companies should respect the animals that produce their astronomical profits

& this extends to allowing for sexual gratification

Animals are sacred

& if they are bred to be killed

The very least we can do

Is allow their biological needs to be met

One of which is sex

The cycle of life should proceed organically

It is a mater of material & spiritual significance.

Though it made me a poet

Though it made me a poet   This is a superior microwave to the last if  everything has to be a competition I guess it does! In the Kafkaesque vortex Where one is trying merely to ask a question Instead one is sold something I’m monastic or have acute anxiety Anxiety is pretty cute Like a decapitated bleeding brain Covered in snails turned carnivore By the wrack & ruin of a child’s innocence The fist in the sister’s face The knife in the wall Did I imagine the latter, dream it or see it? Who threw it? Must have been the bowie Still life goes on So I went to school the next morning & got my mouth taped up For being a chatterbox Such is the life of a privileged 5 year old It made me a poet     Published & Copyright Malachi Doyle 2025.
